Simon Stephens + Katie Mitchell
Hampstead Theatre, Swiss Cottage Centre, Primrose Hill, NW3 3EX

Simon Stephen takes his inspiration from Alfred Jarry's 1896 play Ubu Roi, whose narcissistic central character finds himself on trial in The Hague. Naturally, the megalomaniac is charged with crimes against humanity but exists in a world so far beyond our law that the tribunal struggle to deal with his unspeakable crimes.
