In 1998, contemporary artist C.A. Halpin opened the The Outside World to exhibit paintings and sculptures alongside works by outsider artists.

After cosing in 2001, the gallery reopened in 2006 on Redhcurch Street, and today plays host to regular exhiitions of contemporary art.
