In 1982 a derelict east London factory was given a new lease of life by a group of young artists. They converted the building into 40 studios, the artists moved in from far and wide, and the rest, they say, is history. The gallery now operates as a not-for-profit organisation promoting the work of young international artists.
The artists that have passed through this established gallery have, for the most part, been of a high calibre; the shows here are rarely lacking in inspiration. A great collaboration between the Arts Council and the artists who manage the building.
They usually host five exhibitions a year, so keep an eye out for highlights.
