Infamous in the late Nineties and early Noughties, Decima shut its gallery in Bermondsey in 2002, but has now re-opened a space in Hackney Wick. Previous exhibitions such as 'Was Jesus a Homosexual' and 'Fuckart & Pimp' included works by the likes of Gilbert & George, and, as the titles suggest, did not go down too well with the right-wing red top rags.
Whatever one's view on Decima's deliberate shock tactics, it's undoubtedly good to see them back. Although artists such as Gavin Turk are now very much part of the establishment, they still view themselves as outsiders, so expect a spate of publicity fireworks. The art world (and the celebrity press) await their next stunts with baited breath.
