The ‘People’s Park’ covers 218 acres of grassland in Tower Hamlets and was originally opened to the public in 1845, giving a much-needed green space for the residents of poverty-stricken Victorian East End.
Over the years, it has served as a venue for political rallies, and anti-aircraft site and POW camp during WW2, though more recently has become a haven for sunbathers, joggers and dog-walkers enjoying the quiet away from the nearby bustling East London streets.
Things really get exciting when the quiet is broken by a live music event, and Vicky Park has recently become the home of the annual Lovebox Festival, as well as a number of other events that take full advantage of this beautiful open space.
