Hootananny

95 Effra Road, Brixton, SW2 1DF
Tel: 020 75019671

An iconic Brixton boozer (formerly The Hobgoblin) which symbolises the charm of this hard-partying area.

It is messy, shambolic, but very friendly and behind the chaos there’s a method and determination to make sure you enjoy yourself.

With big screen sports, quiz nights and raucous comedy, Hootananny is part of the community and works hard to keep people happy throughout the week.

really hit and miss. the live music room has a nice stage setup and fairly good acoustics but the sound just gets muffled in the adjoining pub room. the seating/pub room is fine, and the billiards tables provide a good distraction if the acts on stage are sub/par. the drinks are average, and in some cases actually a bit expensive consdering how rundown the pub is.

Dilapidated and friendly, the crowd is a mix of reggae rascals and Brixton's bounciest. With a stage for live music and a bass battered dancefloor, there are a range of nights to get on. Watch out for Ska/ Reggae Dub line-ups. Skankalicious.

I think pub is fine even though it's a little run down and has seen better days. I have seen some very good bands there also some not so good, A nice, cheap and cheerful place where there is little or no trouble. The atmosphere is buzzing and most people are friendly. The door staff leave a lot to be desired and could behave in a more professional way toward the public and use manners which are sadly lacking.
Generally a good night to be had at the Hootananny in Brixton.
