O2 Academy Brixton

211 Stockwell Road, Brixton, SW9 9SL
Tel: 020 7771 3000

Probably the best place to see live music in south London, the Carling Brixton Academy has hosted everyone from The Clash and Bob Dylan to The Prodigy and Faithless in its long and illustrious history.

The Art Deco façade and unique garden scene about the stage add to this landmark's mystique, and the sloping floor is a master-stroke, affording perfect views of the stage from virtually anywhere.

The overbearing corporate sponsorship is a drag, but it's a minor quibble when this place works its magic on you. Our tip? Avoid the touts and crowds and walk from Stockwell tube station, it's only about ten minutes walk.

Reviews

Great venue. The interior is almost surreal as it's made up to look like roman-esque outdoor theatre. The sound system is great, and though it is in no way a small venue, the atmosphere somehow manages to make the show seem special as well.
