The Etcetera Theatre is one of London's best known pub theatres. Situated above
The Oxford Arms pub on Camden High Street, the Etcetera is only 75 metres from Camden Town tube station and is at the heart of one of the city's busiest and most vibrant areas.
With over two thousand productions under their belt and no sign of letting up, the Etcetera theatre is a mainstay of the fringe scene in London. It also plays host to new writing, sketch and stand-up comedy, Edinburgh previews and is one of three venues to host the famous Camden Fringe festival every August.
Though it has a tiny stage and seats around 50 people, its size does not reflect the success and quality of the theatre and comedy shows it has put on. The local talent has especially benefited, acting as the first staging point for a number of incredible writers who have tried out new material here. These include Alan Ayckbourn, (
The Westwoods) Paul Todd (
Between the Lines), Chris Morris (
Blue Jam started out here) and Alan Bennett who adapted
Kafka's Dick for his favourite pub theatre.
