Saatchi Gallery

Duke of York Square, Chelsea, SW3 4RY

Opened in October 2008, the Saatchi Gallery is a major addition to London's contemporary art scene. Housed in the refurbished Duke of York's Headquarters near Sloane Square and boasting four floors and about 70,000 square-foot of exhibition space, this is comfortably the gallery's largest home to date.

Thanks to a new partnership with auction house Phillips de Pury, the Saatchi Gallery is also completely free for all visitors. Even entry to the changing programme of curated shows is free, making the Saatchi Gallery the first completely free major contemporary art museum in the world.

Whilst Charles Saatchi is - for some - best-known for his championing of the YBAs (Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin et al) his interests are actually much broader than that. If it's big, bold and new, then Saatchi is most likely to be interested.

The Saatchi Gallery is one of Spoonfed's Best Galleries in London.

Great gallery with free admission to all exhibitions. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the exhibition rooms are spacious and minimal yet very attractive. The current exhibition 'Unveiled' is worth checking out, and is a mix of traditional and modern art from the middle east. Hurry, it ends on May 6th.
