One of the most famous and renowned exhibition spaces in the western world, the Victoria and Albert Museum houses extensive collections of art, design and fashion that are the envy of all other museums.

Since 1852, the 11 acre site has set the standard for museums the world over, with late night openings and live music among the innovations first seen here.

Nowadays, a regular calendar of special exhibitions, as well as 145 galleries of regular collections make the V&A one of the capital’s foremost attractions, and is the jewel in the heart of South Kensington’s Museumland.

The V&A is one of Spoonfed's Best London Museums.

A lot of interesting stuff on display. Be sure to check the outside of the museum itself for a look at some of the bombardment damage of WWII.

Definitely one of the best museums in London, without a doubt. You can spend days here and not see everything. One of the best rooms is the hall of casts which houses true to life casts of famous historical monuments from around the world - truly impressive and definitely worth a look.

My favourite place in London. Always interesting art and objects on show in the permanent collections. I particularly enjoy the portrait miniatures and anything to do with Prince Albert. The Print and Study Room is fascinating if you are after a closer look at objects such as Victorian photo albums.

Shadow Catchers: Camera-less Photography.

The images almost seem like ink prints, but this intriguing exhibition is photography in it's rawest form. Forget the raw settings on your digital camera, these are shadows burned onto paper or, as Pierre Cordier puts it, this is 'faux-tography'. The feel is elegant, but this primordial form of photography isn't captivating because of detail. It is the lack of detail that sparks the imagination. It is much akin to Japanese shadow theatre and the chaos of fractals, however there is a creativity at work here that goes well beyond ISO numbers and f-stops. It is literally painting with light and is reminiscent of Joseph Nic
