The Museum of London is a fascinating place, and although it follows the basic line of almost every other national capital museum, it's more interesting than most. With coverage of the city running from the time of its conception, through the Roman and medieval periods and on to the present day, there's something for everyone. There's a strong slant towards archeology, so for Time Team loving children and adults there's plenty of material to get you teeth into.

Following a £20 million redevlopment, Museum of London opened its brilliant Galleries of Modern London back in 2010 - which tell the story of the capital through a host of amazing artefacts and displays.
