Despite two fires (though not the Great Fire of 1666) and the Blitz causing substantial damage over the years, the church remains true to its design of 1545, and hosted the wedding of Oliver Cromwell and the burial of John Milton.
Today, it is a charming sanctuary from the commotion of the City, and regular concerts and recitals are a major part of St Giles’ calendar.
