Odd but excellent is the verdict of the crowds on this live music venue off the beaten track in Clerkenwell. A sophisticated food menu, shiny taps dispensing designer beer and a lot of low-riding sofas create the impression that you are in a trendy watering hole much like any other. Then, all of a sudden, someone shouts "testing" into a mic, the place fills up like magic with hip hop kids, rockers or fans of a particular band, and the place kicks up a gear. The staff and management are extremely friendly which adds to the charm of the place for a casual visit, and their in house promotion team have energetically fixed up music for practically every night of the week. A lot of love has gone into Leonard's, let's hope they can keep the place busy despite their hidden location.
