Four storey house which claims to be the only surviving residence of the hugely popular Victorian novelist. There are a number of original manuscripts displayed alongside original furnishings and keepsakes of the great man.
Although it's a good place to get an authentic flavour of the London he so eloquently described and ideal for manuscript-hungry academics, it has the feel of little more than a curio.
Ultimately it's an essential educational resource and worth a visit for serious fans. Otherwise, there are better places to entertain the kids.
