The Linbury is part of the Royal Opera House but operates a daring fringe programme of its own. We rate it one of the best fringe theatres in London. The 400-seater, futuristic auditorium is used for chamber recitals, smaller concerts, new writing and experimental opera and dance pieces. The metal cage-like structure increases the intensity of performances, but the seating is surprisingly comfortable.

Most shows here are inspired by the Opera House's resident programmes, and established writers will often experiment boldly in the smaller auditorium, making it one of the most adventurous opera and dance theatres in the world. The Linbury is also used for the Royal Opera’s programme of free lunchtime concerts which have won an army of fans in recent years.
