When the drink is flowing and there's a great band onstage, the Bowl at Crystal Palace can resemble the main stage at Glastonbury. The fact that the bands perform on the other side of a duckpond does nothing to reduce intensity. Past performers include Oasis and Bob Marley - now he would have been good.
However, despite the great view provided by the natural slope, if you are sober and bored by the other half's favourite warbler, you just curse the horrendous journey home you'll soon face.
A great venue for a summer concert, but even though its still in London it's probably quicker to get to Glasto or Reading.
Once upon a time, back in the days of handle bar moustaches and A-line flairs, the Crystal Palace Bowl was famous for it's summer concerts, attracting bands like Pink Floyd, Yes, Deep Purple, Lou Reed...
