A former Art Deco cinema in Elephant and Castle, the Coronet is one of South London's largest venues for live shows and club events. It has a similar feel to old picture-houses like The Forum or Brixton Academy, but thanks to recent refurbishment its glamour isn't so faded as the former, nor is it overloaded with corporate sponsorship like the latter.
Inside the original character remains (but with all mod cons) and while the main arena is sizeable it feels intimate, with good views of the stage.
With a capacity of 2200 and a diverse calender, the Coronet is helping – along with Corsica Studios – to make Elephant and Castle's giant roundabout a viable destination for nights out. That's no mean feat.
