Capoeira originates from 16th century Brazil, where African slaves adapted a form of martial arts disguised as a dance performance. Participants form a roda (circle) and take turns playing instruments, singing, and sparring in pairs in the centre of the circle.
Opened in 1988, the London School of Capoeira Heranca (LSC) was the first of its kind in the UK. Master Sylvia and Master Marcos, both graduates of the Association of Capoeira Senzala of Master Sombra, Santos, Brazil, constantly promote this art with the help of their members by performing demonstrations around the UK.
This is their first full time studio dedicated to Capoeira.
