Red Mansion is a not-for-profit organisation set up to promote artistic exchange between China and the UK. Its exhibition space at 46 Portland Place is housed in a stunning 17th Century building, the ceilings of which alone make it worth a visit.
Red Mansion specialises in contemporary Chinese art and features work in a broad variety of media from painting to video, sculpture to installation. Works are invariably of the highest quality and, in general, sit at the cutting-edge end of the contemporary spectrum.
Whilst visits to the gallery are by appointment only, don't let this put you off: the staff here are unusually helpful and normally willing to welcome visitors at relatively short notice.
Please note: The Red Mansion Foundation has closed.
