In coalition with the world famous V&A, the UK’s first permanent gallery for the exhibition of architecture was opened by RIBA in 2004.
With the vast drawing and photographic collection already housed at the V&A, the addition of models, elements of buildings and original sketches to the RIBA make the partnership the world’s most comprehensive architectural resource.
For those whose interest in drawing is lacklustre at best, the RIBA gallery may command greater attention with displays of actual parts of buildings, including a rare surviving piece of the Great Fire of London.
It isn’t all home grown talent either; the gallery provides diverse contrasts with extensive showings of Italian Renaissance works and drawings from American architects.
