The Hob has a habit of sneaking up on you and giving you a great night out. The first impression is of a bog standard pub with a pretty small pool table and no student prices. Second impression is of friendly staff, plenty of seats, sport on telly and a good vibe.

Third impression, a pen pressed into your hand, you are captaining a scratch quiz team against a blend of locals and local students. Fourth impression, you're going to win. Fifth, wrong. Sixth, I don't care, check out this shot, I love playing pool on tiny tables. Seventh, where the hell am I and how do I get home? Eighth, that was fun.

The comedy on Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays is also worth the trip to Forest Hill.
