The Queen's House

Greenwich Park, Greenwich, SE10 9NF

Originally designed for Anne of Denmark, the queen of King James I of England, this 17th-century historic building was to be used as accommodation for a mere seven years before the English civil war broke out in 1642. Since then it has been an administrative building, hospital and now part of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site.

Housing a substantial collection of marine paintings and portraits, the building comes under the rule of the National Maritime Museum within Greenwich Park.

As well as the permanent collections, the Queen's House is constantly being updated with touring exhibitions and is a hire venue for weddings and corporate functions.

The Queen's House will be closed to the public all day 29 April-2 May. It will also be closed on 24 June.
