Despite what people say, Clapton isn't all that bad. At first glance it may look a bit depressing, but look beneath the grime and crazy people and you'll find some pretty spot-on places to hang out in.

Biddle's Brothers has to be our pick of the crop. A strangely charming little bar, it's like some crazy cross between an tumble-down Irish pub and a laid-back speak easy that has loads of cool beers and puts on folk gigs out the back. There's also a fairly good pizza place just a stone's throw away.

Just be careful of the The Windsor Castle over the road - that place is truely terrifying.
