This rough diamond in Hackney is known for it's dependably tolerant opening hours and louche feel, which make it popular with people who really like to have a good time. The Dolphin looks unappealing from the outside, but the interior has it's own special charm: some East End Edwardian's insane love for ceramic has been preserved through the years, with glazed tiles covering most surfaces including the ceiling. At least it makes the place almost entirely wipe-clean. The sea-themed murals are nice too.

For some reason people always want to know if there tends to be anyone 'dodgy' in there, but if you go to one of the packed-out parties at the weekend, like Cocadisco for instance, the main danger is that you might find someone from Vice magazine internally enumerating the bad points about your outfit.
