The George has many things to recommend it, some of which are not especially common in this corner of London. Aside from a homely traditional interior and friendly, civilised staff, the pub has a great jukebox, decent real ale including Abbot and a back-room pool table.

One other valuable attribute is the leafy patio on the quiet street at the front, which in the summer is very pleasant indeed.

Every Monday night, there is a general knowledge quiz from 8.30.

The George is a great pub, something that's totally apparent if you turn up, say, on a Tuesday afternoon. But go at a busy time and you'll find braying people, from 'creatives-only' flat-shares in Dalston, have already occupied all the available space.

This will irritate you, unless you're a person from a creatives-only flat-share. And punctual.
