Upstairs at the Gatehouse Theatre has been running since 1985. It's a great pub theatre above a popular local boozer. What's more, they've got something of a knack for finding future smashes, such as recent musicals based upon Take That (Never Forget) and Big Brother the Musical - perfect fringe theatre but with mainstream appeal.
Upstairs at the Gatehouse also tour shows to Edinburgh where they've scored hits with such shows as Forever Plaid and Jim Bowen's You Can't Beat A Bit Of Bully. Our favourite was recent Shameless-meets-musical hybrid Cooking With Elvis, elevated to superb levels by the Elvis impersonator who practically blew the roof off..
