Small and incredibly cluttered museum in the heart of London's legal community which was established by Sir John Soane as a museum in order to get revenge on his errant, idle son who was expecting to inherit the lot.
For one short lifetime, this is an incredible collection of paintings, artifacts, stuffed animals, armour, furniture and every kind of eccentric collectible. The contents of the house are priceless and represent one of the biggest individual collections in history. Not bad for a bricklayer's son.
A charming museum, a place to learn if that is what you are after, or a rambling cornucopia of beautiful old stuff for the casual visitor.
