The End
Way back in 1995 Mr C and his friend Layo Pushkin decided to open a club that combined the excitement of a full blown rave with some of the creature comforts of a stylish nightclub but luckily they put the music policy first. The End still has the crispest sound system in London and the intimidating DJ booth, literally surrounded by adoring ravers, makes this a terrifying place to play and therefore the most essential stop on the itinerary of any self respecting superstar DJ.
There's no doubt this is the favourite spot of dance music megastars from Goldie and Grooverider to Darren Emerson and Tiefschwarz. The club has got the basics right, but their record label also showed an incredible deftness of touch - Roni Size, Daft Punk and Fatboy Slim are just some of the acts who started out in the middle room at this clubbing institution, and it's a pilgrimage destination for the likes of Laurent Garnier, Erol Alkan, Ritchie Hawtin, Sven Vath and Andy C. The crowd are always pleased as punch and with a totally friendly attitude and two or three rooms of blinding tunes, you cannot go wrong with a ticket to The End.
The club expanded to include an upstairs bar, the AKA, becoming one venue on the biggest nights - usually Circo Loco's extravaganza's and MN2S.
Earlier this year The End announced it would be closing it's doors and hanging up its coat in 2009, so if you haven't been yet, then now really is your last chance.
