The name Truckles refers to a contraption on wheels that pushes wine up and down the table so, rather unsurprisingly it has lent its name to a traditional ale and port house.
Candle lit tables and sawdust covered floors set the scene perfectly and transport you to a different era - although I doubt they had chip and pin back in those days. Head down and try Davy's Old Wallop served in an old fashioned pewter jug - it really is something special.
Closed weekends.
