Ye Olde Mitre, in London not Somerset, is a very old pub indeed. So old in fact, that it was demolished and rebuilt in a time when bishops owned pubs and people were at least two feet shorter, otherwise it would be next to a head hospital. Furthermore, the Mitre is a real challenge to locate: Make your way to Hatton Gardens, where you will come across a guard box. Politely ask the nice gentlemen in the box if he can help you with directions, on which he will point to a tiny, dark and inconspicuous alleyway, congratulations! you have made it. Although it may sound like an effort, or treasure hunt to be more precise; with a good selection of real ales, darn fine food, extremely friendly service and an authentic Edwardian feel, you should pay this place a visit if you're in the area.
