Pleasance Theatre
Adventurous, well loved local theatre in Islington which is the sister of Edinburgh's favourite fringe theatre. In keeping with the traditions of leading fringe theatres, the Pleasance plays host to all kinds of obscure shows by brand new writers, as well as new productions of the classics. They also have an impressive comedy roster.
Thanks to a prime location and an extraordinary local talent pool most productions here are excellent. Being in the heart of Islington the place is a Mecca for touring fringe productions and art house foreign tours - the players expect (and receive) a sympathetic welcome from the north London intelligentsia.
The Pleasance also stages children's shows for all ages, a lucrative sideline in "Nappy Valley", but also an exercise of real merit. The Pleasance's kiddie shows are extraordinary and will provide the perfect introduction to the magic of theatre for youngsters - and an eye opening hour or so for their accompanying adults.
An added bonus is the lively bar and restaurant adjoining the theatre should you want to grab a bite pre or post performance. A fantastic local venue with a great nose for new shows.
