Bedroom Bar

62 Rivington Street, Hoxton and Shoreditch, EC2A 3AY
Tel: 020 7613 5637

The Bedroom bar is a tiny little place tucked away in the backstreets of Shoreditch, you know, one of those places you walk past everyday without even paying it a second glance. Inside, it's as comfortable as all get out with sofas, beds and throw cushions aplenty.

Bedroom combines healthy drinks and shakes and all that hoopla with vicious cocktails and great designer beers, allowing you to segue from yogic restoration to utter poisoning without rising from your couch. The music is a typical mix of funk, house, and broken beat played by in house DJs, and you can end your night dancing or swaying between beds in a relaxed manner.

Bedroom is extremely chilled and always good value whether you're after detoxification or moral and physical corruption. Or both.

The club itself is pretty awesome and the music is great. The only reason I'm rating it so low is because of the staff - vulgar, rude, and so discourteous to their customers. Who do they think they are? The barman was so obnoxious, and the doormen were actually physically aggressive (I saw a man get pushed by them when he was trying to sort out a reservation which the club had screwed up - it made everyone queuing noticeably uncomfortable). Avoid the place if you don't want to be treated like dirt.

I was surprised to find many good reviews for this place elsewhere online as my experience was quite different. Yet it became less surprising when I came across the same positive reviews under different names elsewhere on the net!

From my point of view the biggest problem are the bouncers. They seem to be provoking far more trouble than maintaining a safe environment. This is not really the sort of place that attracts troublemakers - ie mainly students and office workers - not chavs and yobs. I took the decision to remain fairly sober after very early in the night I observed the bouncers being very aggressive to girls who were drunk and made the fatal mistake of getting up on a chair purely for a pic to be taken. I saw 4-5 incidents of the bouncers exerting their authority on people who were simply enjoying themselves and causing no problems. Speaking to people who have had a drink in an aggressive manor for no real reason to me if totally out of order. The drinks are over priced for a non West End venue and poor bar staff where I didnt get served in under 15mins any of the 6 times I approached the bar. The music was good and mixed but all and all i'd never go back. I dont like places where you are scared to drink for fear of being targeted by power hungry bouncers. And die of thirst for fairly rude bar staff. Also, what does the image of an Indian Hindu god do in a Moroccan room? Avoid this pretentious place at all cost!
