A club that has merried along through the dance music era hosting some seminal nights such as Slimelight, 100% Dynamite and Warp Records. It isn't actually that merry inside, feeling instead like someone's finally got their act together and put some decor in their squat.
The staff and owners are all dedicated goth types and the club has a sci-fi theme running through its slightly battered three rooms. The downstairs room is dark and perfect for a genuinely underground music night. Upstairs there is a brighter bar, which has silver thorn bushes and mannequins in cages to ward off evil spirits and journalists.
The top room is a larger U shaped dancefloor with a stage for live bands and a fairly loud Turbosound system. Recent musical miscellanies such as Dubstep, Wrong music and Digital Hardcore have found a perfect haunt in this club and it will no doubt continue to provide a meeting place for the organised misfits for some time to come.
Best regular night? It's hard to say, really. Bang Face in the upstairs room provides a tranche of the best old hardcore and new weirdness for a crowd who like dressing up and writing love notes for the DJs. 100% dynamite, at £5, may be the best value night in London, and offers consistently brilliant reggae with pure laid back vibes. But the Slimelight regulars would never let you get away with that. It seems the place simply attracts quality, music focussed parties.
