Proper live music, seven nights a week is the motto of the Buffalo Bar, who organise their own programme but get some great acts onto the famous stage to wow the north London scenesters and tourists alike.

The Buffalo is a great place to catch a band you like, with an intimate atmosphere and great acoustics. The emphasis is very much on music with all drinks a uniform £3 to avoid confusion and fantastic staff who rock along every night of the week.

Oh, and on Monday the rock and roll stops for a spot of salsa, showing they don't take themselves too seriously to shake a bit of booty Latin style.

Went to see The Scare play there a while back. Twas an interesting night, as hadn't been to that venue before although it is quite well known. Surprisingly small, thus very intimate. Drinks a little on the costly side (although maybe that's changed--the summary says they're all £3?), but entry was only a fiver so I guess that's okay.

If you like your venues small, intimate, yet grimy, you'll like this place.

Cupboard under a train station. You can find great bitter punk gigs here - as you might expect from a venue with less floor space than a shoe - but more surprisingly you can also sashay through 60s pop DJ nights, and attend weekly Latin dance classes. Why its called the Buffalo Bar? My guess is the bullish huge ambitions of its owners. Always reliable for something fun, though drinks are pretty steep.
