Our new favourite pub in the Islington area, this is a real ale pub with cheap food, great beer, and a fantastic array of events for their locals including a free quiz on Thursday, a jazz trio every Friday with a combined age of over 200 years, and the Old Fogey beer appreciation society on Tuesdays. (You must be drawing a pension to join this club, although there's a parallel club for younger drinkers.)

A proper old local, with dirt cheap prices, home made sandwiches, no TV and a lively local crowd. If you've got ten minutes to spare, have a look at the football match reports on their website. The best thing we've seen this year.
