Union Chapel

Compton Avenue, Islington, N1 2XD
Tel: 020 7226 1686

A working church, Union Chapel in the heart of Islington has been the London music scene's best kept secret since it first began putting on live events way back in 1991.

This is one of London most stunning and atmospheric live venues, hosting a wide range of concerts from top international contemporary music stars like David Byrne, Goldfrapp, Morcheeba, Bjork and Beck, to world music favorites like Salif Kieta, Mariza, Ravi Shankar and Baaba Maal.

Whether in the main chapel or the slightly smaller Chapel Bar upstairs, a gig here provides a welcome alternative to sweaty pub venues.

The Union Chapel has set a rather high precedent for my standards of viewing modern classical artists. I will now settle for nothing less than sipping a mug of tea in the pew of a beautiful church!
