This awesome drinking den is tucked away down a side street near Chalk Farm, and is so much the better for it. Chews has a devoted regular clientele and it's often the spot for a wicked DJ night upstairs or a kicking live band so it's just as well they don't have to contend with the passing tourist trade as well.

Empty tequila and mescal bottles literally line the walls, like a dusty tribute to a thousand brilliant nights gone by. The downstairs bar is always heaving but service is quick. Upstairs there are live bands, parties and DJ nights, with a hilarious open mic on Tuesday.

Out the back there's a very decent seafood restaurant. This is a brilliant spot for throwing a party or just blasting away a few brain cells in good company.
