The Gagosian Gallery has branches in New York, LA, London and Rome, with the latter two cities being forced into something of a backseat behind those on US soil. Nevertheless, the gallery has built itself a solid reputation as one of the capital’s top contemporary/enfant terriblism establishments.

Their resident artist catalogue reads like a Daily Mail reader’s hit list. This, for obvious reasons, is no bad thing, but recently the galleries’ shows have come under criticism for representing the pinnacle of corruption (in a philosophical, rather than monetary sense) in the art industry. The critic Jed Perl’s words are strong indeed, and provide an interesting starting point for debate in consideration of the exhibitions held at the galleries; it is your responsibility to decide for yourself where you stand on the issue. The only way to do this is to see for yourself, so head down and contemplate to your heart’s content.
