One of the first results of the extensive Kings Cross redevelopment programme, Kings Place is a multi-purpose arts and culture venue just a stone's throw from London's busiest commuter hub.
With two main performing spaces (including the first public concert hall to be built in London since the Barbican in 1982) and a cluster of rehearsal, teaching and exhibition spaces, Kings Place is set to become one of London's premier arts spaces.
A welcome addition to the London arts scene, and an encouraging sign that this once rather desolate landscape could live up to the much-hyped plans.
From January 2009, Kings Place will also host The Newsroom, Guardian and Observer archive and visitor centre.
