A well-stocked bar and jukebox add to the appeal of a venue that is popular among the hipsters enjoying the rock revival.

The Water Rats is something of an iconic venue and benefits from a huge, crisp PA and a bit more space than most pub-like venues.

Live bands don't hold back on the volume. Crowds surge. All is well in Kings Cross.

The Monto is one of Spoonfed's Best Indie Venues in London.

Was there for a Lovers Electric gig. Not very crowded when I went which was a downside. The venue was quite nice, I liked the decor but I thought the price of entry was a little too much (8 pounds!!). Most of the time the dj/lights dude was pretty good, except for when he would shine this really bright white light, which probably would have been a cool effect if it wasn't for the fact that it blinded the audience.

This is the best little venue in London. Saw a few big bands like Feeder and Editors in this small place which is nice. Played a gig a while back with my old band and the promoter provided all the drums. Going next week to see Lights, she's top ten in the Canadian charts at the moment. I like it when I see big bands in little places :}

MONTO WATER RATS has always been one of my FAVORITE MUSIC VENUES IN LONDON!!

The bar is cosy.. I have amazing memories of standing up at the back of the room where they hold the gigs and watching some of my favorite bands. THERE IS ALWAYS A GREAT ATMOSPHERE.

i've been going to gigs (AND PLAYING GIGS! for 15 years, and still love the place. Its a good place to go for a drink on a saturday night.

The place is what it is, anyone coming here expectinig anything fancy will leave disappointed, but in general, its a great little old school vibe to come drink and be merry. the area where the gigs are can get very busy and really intimate. the gigs i've seen here have always had an excellent atmosphere, and the crowd have always left satisfied.

Gigs I've seen here :

THE GERMS (PAT SMEAR!!)

JOE LALLY (FUGAZI)

FEEDER

EDITORS

JONATHAN RICHMAN (THE MODERN LOVERS!!)

Check the website if you're planning a trip to London see who's playing and grab some tickets (which are always reasonably priced) and enjoy!

I *L* O* V* E* THIS PLACE!

It's cool without the stuck up attitudes you get @ other bars. It's a great place to see a concert of indie bands.

The woman working the door was friendly and allowed me to come in from the cold and wait until the show started. The staff were also friendly. The concert space is a decent sise, not too claustophobic, an intimate setting of sorts.

I love this place.

If you have never seen a show there, you have to go in for one. For music lovers, the experience is raw and in your face. I love going there, and I will always come back from time to time.
