Formerly the Mean Fiddler, The Astoria 2 is a fantastic intimate venue in which to catch the band that your mate's sister's cousin says are going to be massive next year.
The dark auditorium and caged technical stage add to the feeling that the management are expecting you to mosh your face off at some point, which is sometimes more encouragement than the crowds need.
Much like its big sister, The Astoria, the Astoria 2 doesn't make any great shakes about having classy interiors and yard-long wine lists: it is a battle-proof gig venue to go and let it all hang out.

THE DEMOLITION CLUB (Astoria2, Friday nights)
I don't know about you, but I have been craving nothing more than a good old fashioned rock out and a fuelled up skank out of a Friday night, but recently there hasn't been a huge amount to offer on that front, until now. Demolition at the Astoria 2 has hit the nail on the head. It was supposed to be three nights only but judging by the size of the queues on both of the first nights I'm pretty convinced they're going to keep it running. Well, I bloody well hope so. If you want to be treated to two floors of rocky and punky and ska(rey?) and metally awesomeness, this is the perfect club. And there are decent drinks offers! Although its hard to find time to go to the bar because they pump out priceless track after priceless track and skanking while drinking often results in sticky flooring, ah well, its only £2 for another whisky and coke.
