Apsley House is the home of the first Duke of Wellington and his descendants and has been known as 'Number 1 London' for over 200 years. Right in the heart of London at Hyde Park Corner, the house is now run by the V & A.
Inside Apsley House you'll see many aspects of the daily life of the Duke as well as his amazing art collection. Many of the paintings hung in the first floor are part of the Spanish Royal Collection, which came into Wellington’s possession after the Battle of Victoria in 1813.
A colossal nude statue of Napoleon by Canova dominates the stairwell at the centre of the house.
