October 2008 saw the opening of London's first gallery devoted entirely to Modernist design. Sebastian + Barquet is something of a New York institution and its arrival to the London exhibition scene is a very welcome one.
The Mayfair gallery focuses mainly on international Modernist design from the 1940s to the 1960s and all the work here is of museum quality. A programme of five exhibitions a year keep things moving: the first year includes designers like Isamu Noguchi and Jean Prouvé.
