Monika Sprueth and Philomene Magers' gallery space in the UK, opened in Spring 2007 in an 18th century building on Grafton Street. Having been one of the most successful contemporary galleries in Germany, they decided to set up a London gallery as a platform to present mainly established and young German artists to the British public as well as open discussions and other cultural events revolving round the art.
They tend to exhibit conceptual and minimal artists such as John Baldessari, Dan Flavin, Donald Judd and Richard Artschwager as well as artists that started their career in the 1970s and 1980s such as Peter Fischli & David Weiss, Andreas Gursky, Jenny Holzer, Karen Kilimnik, Barbara Kruger, Louise Lawler, Thomas Scheibitz and Rosemarie Trockel. Recently, new young artists who are starting to pick up international recognition like Thea Djordjadze, Robert Elfgen and Zbigniew Rogalski have also been supported by the gallery.
