Queen's in Bayswater boasts that they are the only venue in London to combine bowling and ice skating. Sounds dangerous, to say the least. With a massive video arcade, year round ice skating and dozens of lanes of ten pin bowling, this is a grand day out.
Everything is slightly grotty in that wonderful seaside resort way. Your rental skates smell. There's spilled slush puppie on the ice hockey table. And none of the bowling balls are sleek and black - they're all piss yellow and covered in splintery shards of extruded plastic. At the end of the day you leave with a huge smile and a bastard headache, satisfied for another year.
Unless you're one of the local oiks, in which case you'll be back tomorrow, skating really fast backwards and licking the windows all the way round the rink.
