Always a good bet for a meet-up or an extended session if you're up the North End of Portobello, The Metropolitan has sat on this corner for decades but keeps things fresh with a constant programme of live music and DJs. It's also cheap for this part of town.

It's something of a local institution and Spoonfed have supped many pints here: from a quick drink of convenience to an extended boozy catch up complete with drunk dance moves as the night wears on.

The Met picked up Best Entertainment Venue in the Great British Pub Awards 2009, against some pretty stiff opposition. They know their stuff.
