Established in 1793 by Thomas Dodd, Bonhams is now – alongside Christie's and Sotheby's – one of the most famous and well-respected auction houses in the world.
Conducting over 700 auctions a year, you can pick up pretty much anything here (if you've got the readies): art, antiques, motor cars, books, porcelain and jewellery are particularly strong.
The New Bond Street saleroom specializes in fine art, and even if you're not up to buying an Andy Warhol or two, the sale viewings are always interesting.
