The Phoenix stands on Cavendish Square, tucked away from the tourist crowds of Oxford Street but still usually packed with a more savvy crowd of shoppers.

During the day, the focus is firmly on their no-nonsense British food (the fish finger sandwiches are particularly appealing) and sampling their impressive array of wines, beers and cocktails.

After dark is when this place really comes to life though, hosting comedy, live bands and DJs, with none of the usual West End baggage thrown in.
