Peter Stringfellow's latest venture is a hybrid of stripclub and stylebar that has attracted and confused a considerable number of celebrity punters in its opening months.
From Tuesday to Thursday The Wardour is hosted by The Angels and the emphasis is very much on stripping, private dances, and a typical mixture of suits and startled looking meedja types.
Every Friday and Saturday night the place becomes a party venue - but the girls are still in effect, adding a touch of glamour to proceedings. There have been some headline grabbing parties here, landing celebrities from Lily Allen to Callum Best (i.e. only those kind of celebrities who are paid to tediously dominate your middle pages) in all kinds of bother, as they get drunk and kick photographers on the way out.
This is a great place at weekends. The strip clientèle demand good drinks and comfortable seats and this makes it a relaxing venue for a Saturday. There is also a commendable lack of VIP segregation: instead, as you might expect at a Stringfellow venue, there are plenty of quiet corners and private spots for everyone to enjoy.
