A relentlessly trendy space within a short stroll of Buckingham Palace, the Institute of Contemporary Arts was founded in 1946 and moved into their current, beautiful premises in 1968.

The ICA boasts three wonderfully light galleries, a gig venue and a cinema, but a huge part of its activities are organised on the streets of London or at various ‘secret’ locations.

A beautiful space and a history of brilliant shows from Picasso to Hirst have kept the ICA at the forefront of Britain’s Modern Arts scene. The gallery is light and airy, the café is overpriced but well stocked, the beer is designer and the sound system rocks -it is a great place to take in some art or a show. Secretly, our favourite place is the cinema – does that make us philistines?
